Togo, a narrow coastal strip of a country wedged between Ghana and Benin, is not in the official SWIFT/ECBS IBAN registry, but it shares its central bank, BCEAO (Banque Centrale des États de l’Afrique de l’Ouest), and the West African CFA franc (XOF) with seven neighbors, Benin among them.
Togo’s format sits in the letters-only subgroup within BCEAO — shared with Côte d’Ivoire, Niger, and Senegal — where the 2-character block right after the check digits is always alphabetic. That’s the same subgroup its western neighbor Benin sits just outside of, since Benin’s equivalent block accepts digits as well as letters.
How this validator works
This tool checks the “TG” prefix, confirms 2 letters precede exactly 22 digits, and runs the mod-97 checksum (ISO 7064) the number must satisfy. Everything runs client-side, with nothing sent to a server.
What a pass doesn’t tell you
A pass confirms the 28 characters are internally consistent — not that the account is open or that Togo has formal SWIFT IBAN registration. This tool performs no lookup against BCEAO or any Togolese bank.
Scope: format and mod-97 checksum validation only, for a locally used but non-SWIFT-registered format — not payment processing or account confirmation.
