Barbados Phone Number validator
How the phone number format works
- Format
- Barbados phone number in national or international (+1) format
- Example
- +12462501234
Things to watch for
- Accepts national or international (E.164, e.g. +1...) format
- Validated with Google's libphonenumber; confirms the number is possible/valid for this country, not that it is currently assigned or reachable
^[+]?[0-9 ()\-]{6,}$A Barbados phone number is a standard 10-digit North American Numbering Plan (NANP) number — 3-digit area code plus 7-digit local number, e.g. 246-250-1234 — sharing the same +1 country code and shape as the US, Canada, and a long list of other Caribbean nations. Barbados sits east of the main Windward Islands chain, out in the Atlantic rather than the Caribbean Sea proper, but has used a single area code, 246, since joining NANP.
How this validator works
Enter the number in local form (246-250-1234) or full international form (+12462501234); this tool checks the digit count and confirms the area code matches 246, the only code assigned to Barbados, using Google’s libphonenumber entirely client-side. Because NANP membership alone can’t distinguish country of origin, that area-code check is what lets the validator confirm Barbadian specifically rather than just somewhere in the shared +1 plan.
What a pass doesn’t tell you
A pass confirms the number has the genuinely Barbadian area code and a plausible local number — it does not confirm the line is connected, ported, or still held by whoever gave it to you.
Scope: format and area-code-origin validation only, for catching a mistyped digit or a wrong-country assumption before a number reaches a CRM or dialer — not a substitute for a carrier lookup.

phone number FAQ
Why is Barbados on the NANP +1 plan when it's the easternmost Caribbean island?
NANP membership was extended to many former British Caribbean territories regardless of geography — Barbados sits well east of the main Antilles chain, in the Atlantic, but was still assigned into the shared +1 plan with its own dedicated area code, 246.
If a number starts +1 246, does that rule out it being American or Canadian?
Yes. 246 is assigned specifically to Barbados within the shared NANP +1 range, so a valid 246 area code rules out US and Canadian origin, and any other NANP country too — it's the area code, not the +1 prefix, doing that work.
Does a valid 246 number mean the line is currently active?
No. It only confirms the area code and 7-digit local number match a real Barbados NANP pattern — not that the SIM is active or reachable, which needs a carrier-side lookup this tool doesn't perform.
