Cambodia Phone Number validator

How the phone number format works

Format
Cambodia phone number in national or international (+855) format
Example
+85591234567

Things to watch for

  • Accepts national or international (E.164, e.g. +855...) format
  • Validated with Google's libphonenumber; confirms the number is possible/valid for this country, not that it is currently assigned or reachable
Regex for phone number
^[+]?[0-9 ()\-]{6,}$

A Cambodian phone number dials nationally with a leading 0, followed by a 2 or 3-digit network prefix and a subscriber number — for example 012 345 678 or the newer 016 1234567. Cambodia expanded its numbering plan from 8 to 9 digits (excluding the trunk 0) as mobile demand grew, so numbers issued under older prefixes are a digit shorter than ones issued more recently — both are genuinely valid, not a formatting error.

How this validator works

Enter the number nationally (012345678) or with the country code (+85512345678); this tool checks the digits against Cambodia’s real numbering plan using Google’s libphonenumber, entirely in your browser, correctly accepting both the older 8-digit and newer 9-digit local-number lengths rather than assuming one fixed size. Dropping the trunk 0 is the only change needed to reach international form — nothing else in the digit sequence moves.

What a pass doesn’t tell you

A pass confirms the number matches a genuine Cambodian mobile or landline pattern — it says nothing about whether that specific SIM is active or the line connected. Cambodia’s mobile operators reassign disconnected numbers, so a correctly-shaped number isn’t proof anyone currently holds it.

Scope: catch a wrong prefix, a missing digit, or a kept trunk 0 after +855 before a number reaches a booking form or SMS gateway — not confirmation it currently rings.

phone number FAQ

Why are some Cambodian phone numbers longer than others?

Cambodia migrated from 8-digit to 9-digit local numbers as demand for mobile ranges grew, so older prefixes still in use are shorter than numbers issued more recently — both lengths are genuinely valid depending on which range issued the number.

What happens to the leading 0 in a Cambodian number when converting to +855?

It's dropped. A number dialled domestically as 012 345 678 becomes +855 12345678 — the trunk 0 is stripped, and the remaining digits follow directly after +855.

Does a valid check confirm a Cambodian SIM is active?

No. It confirms the digits match a real Cambodian mobile pattern under the numbering plan — not that the SIM is loaded or currently reachable, which needs a carrier-side lookup this tool doesn't perform.
