Cyprus Phone Number validator
How the phone number format works
- Format
- Cyprus phone number in national or international (+357) format
- Example
- +35796123456
Things to watch for
- Accepts national or international (E.164, e.g. +357...) format
- Validated with Google's libphonenumber; confirms the number is possible/valid for this country, not that it is currently assigned or reachable
^[+]?[0-9 ()\-]{6,}$A Cypriot phone number is always 8 digits, with a district code built into the first two digits for landlines — 22 for Nicosia, 25 for Limassol, 24 for Larnaca, 26 for Paphos — and no separate trunk prefix for either landlines or mobiles. A mobile number starts with 9 (9612 3456); a landline starts with its district code (2512 3456 for Limassol). Adding +357 in front is the only change needed for international form, since Cyprus retired its trunk 0 in a 2001 renumbering.
How this validator works
Enter the 8 digits alone (96123456) or with the country code (+35796123456) — this tool checks length and the leading-digit range against Cyprus’s real numbering plan using Google’s libphonenumber library, entirely in your browser. Because there’s no trunk zero to drop, the national and international forms differ by exactly the +357 prefix, and the district code for landlines stays embedded in the 8 digits rather than sitting separately in front of them.
What a pass doesn’t tell you
A pass confirms the 8 digits fall within a real Cypriot mobile or landline range — it says nothing about whether that specific number is currently assigned or reachable. Format validity and live-line status are separate questions; this tool only answers the first one.
Scope: catch a missing digit, an extra digit, or a wrongly-added 0 in front of +357 before the number reaches a form or SMS gateway — not proof the number rings.

phone number FAQ
Does a Cypriot phone number have an area code or trunk prefix?
Landline numbers carry a two-digit district code as their first two digits — 22 Nicosia, 25 Limassol, 24 Larnaca, 26 Paphos — but there's no separate trunk prefix in front of it, and none for mobiles either; both are dialed as a flat 8-digit string.
Do I need to strip a leading 0 when adding +357 to a Cypriot number?
No. Cyprus dropped its trunk 0 when it moved to a closed 8-digit numbering plan in 2001, so the international form is simply +357 followed by the same 8 digits.
Does +357 also cover numbers in the north of the island?
No. Areas administered separately in northern Cyprus use Turkey's +90 392 code, not +357 — this validator and the Republic of Cyprus numbering plan it checks against only cover +357 numbers.
