Why are Ecuadorian mobile and landline numbers different lengths?
Ecuadorian mobile numbers are 9 digits and always start with 9, while landlines are 8 digits: a single-digit province code (2 for Quito, 4 for Guayaquil, for example) plus a 7-digit local number. Mixing the two lengths up is the most common formatting error this validator catches.
