Oman Phone Number validator

How the phone number format works

Format
Oman phone number in national or international (+968) format
Example
+96892123456

Things to watch for

  • Accepts national or international (E.164, e.g. +968...) format
  • Validated with Google's libphonenumber; confirms the number is possible/valid for this country, not that it is currently assigned or reachable
Regex for phone number
^[+]?[0-9 ()\-]{6,}$

An Omani phone number is always 8 digits, with no trunk prefix to strip for international dialing. A mobile number starts with 9 (9212 3456); a landline starts with 2, followed by a regional code folded into those same 8 digits — 24 for Muscat, 23 for Dhofar, 26 for Al Batinah and Musandam (2412 3456). Adding +968 in front is the only change needed to go from national to international form.

How this validator works

Enter the 8 digits alone (92123456) or with the country code (+96892123456) — this tool checks length and leading-digit range against Oman’s real numbering plan using Google’s libphonenumber library, entirely in your browser. Because there’s no trunk zero, the national and international forms differ only by the +968 prefix; the regional code for landlines stays embedded in the 8-digit string rather than sitting in front of it.

What a pass doesn’t tell you

A pass confirms the 8 digits match a real Omani mobile or landline pattern — it says nothing about whether that specific number is currently assigned or reachable. Format validity and live-line status are separate checks, and only the first is what this tool performs.

Scope: use this to catch a missing digit, a transposed digit, or a wrongly-added 0 before +968 reaches a form or SMS gateway — not as proof the number rings.

phone number FAQ

Does an Omani phone number have an area code?

Landlines carry a two-digit regional code baked into the 8 digits — 24 for Muscat, 23 for Dhofar/Salalah, 26 for Al Batinah and Musandam — but there's no separate trunk prefix to add or strip; mobiles have no regional code at all.

Do I need to drop a leading 0 when adding +968 to an Omani number?

No. Oman doesn't use a trunk 0, so the international form is simply +968 followed by the same 8 digits — no digit is added or removed in the conversion.

How can I tell an Omani mobile number from a landline?

By the first digit: mobile numbers start with 9, while landline numbers start with 2 followed by the regional code. Both are 8 digits total either way.
