Panama Phone Number validator
How the phone number format works
- Format
- Panama phone number in national or international (+507) format
- Example
- +50761234567
Things to watch for
- Accepts national or international (E.164, e.g. +507...) format
- Validated with Google's libphonenumber; confirms the number is possible/valid for this country, not that it is currently assigned or reachable
^[+]?[0-9 ()\-]{6,}$A Panamanian phone number comes in two distinct shapes rather than one: mobile numbers are 8 digits starting with 6 (e.g. 61234567), while landline numbers are a flat 7 digits with no area code (e.g. 2123456), the result of a 2001 reform that unified Panama’s landline plan nationwide while leaving mobile numbering in its own, longer range.
How this validator works
Enter the number in local form or full international form (+50761234567); this tool checks against both valid shapes — 8-digit mobile starting with 6, or 7-digit landline — using Google’s libphonenumber, entirely in your browser with no server contact. Because the two ranges genuinely differ in length, the validator doesn’t force every Panamanian number through a single fixed digit count the way some of its Central American neighbors can; a landline entered as if it were 8 digits, or vice versa, is the most common reason a Panamanian number fails here.
What a pass doesn’t tell you
A pass confirms the number is shaped like a real Panamanian mobile or landline number — it does not confirm the SIM is active, the line connected, or the number still belongs to whoever gave it to you.
Scope: a format check for catching a wrong digit count or an invalid leading digit before a Panamanian number reaches a form or SMS platform — not a live carrier or ownership lookup.

phone number FAQ
Why do Panamanian mobile numbers have one more digit than landlines?
Panama unified its landline numbering to a flat 7 digits in 2001 with no regional area code, but mobile numbers are 8 digits and start with 6 — a separate, longer range opened up as mobile adoption grew well past what the original landline plan anticipated.
Does +507 always mean the person is currently in Panama?
No. It confirms the number was issued under Panama's national numbering plan, not the current location of whoever is carrying that mobile — numbers roam and get ported just like anywhere else.
Is there a domestic trunk prefix to strip when converting to +507 format?
No. Panama doesn't use a leading 0 for domestic dialing, so the local digits carry over unchanged — 61234567 locally becomes +50761234567 internationally, with nothing inserted or removed.
