A Saudi Arabian الرمز البريدي (postal code) is the 5-digit core code Saudi Post uses to route mail — for example 11564 for a Riyadh address. It’s the shorter half of the country’s full National Address system: since a 2013 nationwide rollout, Saudi addresses have paired this 5-digit code with an additional 4-digit building-level number for exact delivery, a two-tier structure introduced specifically to replace informal landmark-based addressing that made deliveries slow and inconsistent. Anyone validating a Saudi shipping address, a checkout form, or a spreadsheet of customer records needs at least the base 5-digit code in the right shape before it’s trusted.

Because the base code is a bare run of digits with no separator, and it’s easy to confuse with the longer 9-digit National Address string, a truncated or malformed entry can slip through unnoticed without a length check at the point of entry.

What a pass doesn’t tell you

الرمز البريدي carries no check digit, so matching the 5-digit shape is the most a client-side tool can confirm — not that Saudi Post has assigned it to a real district. Confirming that requires Saudi Arabia’s own National Address lookup.
