Things to watch for

^[0-9A-HJ-NP-RT-UW-Y]{18}$China’s Unified Social Credit Code (统一社会信用代码, USCC) is the 18-character identifier the State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) assigns to every registered company, NGO, government body, and other organization operating in the country — for example 91350100M000100Y43. It replaced a fragmented older system of separate business-license, tax, and organization-code numbers with one code, so a supplier contract, an invoice, or a due-diligence check on a Chinese counterparty now typically only needs this single string. It’s a business-entity code, not a personal identifier — individuals in China carry a separate national ID number, checksummed differently.
What the 18 characters encode
The code isn’t a random string: the first character marks the category of registering authority, positions 3 through 8 encode the registering region using China’s standard administrative-division codes, the middle stretch is the organization’s own assigned code, and the 18th and final character is a check character computed from everything before it — under ISO 7064’s MOD 31-3 scheme, over a 31-character alphabet of digits and uppercase letters that deliberately excludes I, O, S, V, and Z to avoid confusion with digits and other letters.

Is China's USCC a personal ID number?
No. The Unified Social Credit Code (统一社会信用代码) is a business-entity code, issued by the State Administration for Market Regulation to companies, NGOs, and other registered organizations — not to individuals, who are identified by a separate national ID number with its own, different checksum.
What do the first characters of a USCC encode?
The first character identifies the registering authority category, and positions 3 through 8 encode the registering region, drawn from China's national administrative-division code standard. The remaining characters are the organization's own code, ending in the check character this tool verifies.
Does a valid USCC checksum confirm the company is currently registered?
No. It only confirms the 18 characters are arithmetically consistent with the ISO 7064 MOD 31-3 formula SAMR uses to generate valid codes — not that the entity is currently active. SAMR's own public registry is the source for current status.
