^C[MF][A-Z0-9]{12}$Uganda’s National Identification Number (NIN) is issued by the National Identification and Registration Authority (NIRA), and unlike most numbers in this list it’s alphanumeric rather than purely numeric: 14 characters total, opening with CM for a male citizen or CF for a female citizen, followed by 12 further letters and digits — for example CF12345678AB90.
That two-letter prefix is doing real work: it’s the one place in this family of national IDs where gender is signaled through letters rather than a parity rule buried in a digit, as Pakistan’s CNIC does. NIRA also issues NINs to non-citizens and other registrant categories under different prefixes, which this checker doesn’t attempt to cover — it’s scoped to the CM/CF citizen format specifically.

This tool confirms the input opens with C followed by M or F, then exactly 12 further uppercase letters or digits, for 14 characters total. It doesn’t validate non-citizen prefixes or any other registrant category NIRA may use.
What a pass doesn’t confirm
