How this validator works
Paste in the number however you’d normally write it — locally as 0712345678, or already converted to +256712345678 — and this tool confirms the 10-digit national length and the mobile prefix against Uganda’s real numbering plan via Google’s libphonenumber, entirely in your browser. Its most frequent catch is a 0 left in place after +256 has already been added, inflating the digit count past nine after the country code.
What a pass doesn’t tell you
A pass confirms the number matches a genuine Ugandan mobile shape — it doesn’t confirm the SIM is active or currently topped up. A correctly formatted number is no guarantee it’s reachable right now.
Scope: catch a missing digit, a wrong prefix, or a leftover 0 after +256 before a Ugandan number reaches a form or SMS platform — not proof it rings through.

What happens to the leading 0 in a Ugandan number when converting to +256?
It's stripped. The 0 in 0712 345 678 only exists for domestic dialing; once +256 is written in its place, the number becomes +256712345678 — nine digits after the country code, not ten.
Are all Ugandan mobile numbers in the 07x range?
Most are, spanning 070 through 078, though newer ranges outside that block have also been issued as demand grew. The validator checks against the current set of active prefixes rather than assuming 07x is the only option.
Does a valid check confirm the Ugandan SIM is currently reachable?
No. It only confirms the digits fit a real Ugandan mobile pattern under the national numbering plan — not that the SIM is topped up or switched on, which needs a network-side lookup this tool doesn't perform.
